Philadelphia Eagles Autism Foundation Shines a Focus on Autism During NFL Conference Championship Weekend

The Eagles Autism Foundation was featured during NBC’s TODAY Show on January 24, 2025. Eagles Autism Foundation was featured the Friday before the Philadelphia Eagles host the Washington Commanders in the National Football Conference championship game with a trip to Super Bowl LIX on the line.

The Philadelphia Eagles created the Eagles Autism Foundation back in 2017 at the request of the team’s principal owner Jeffrey Lurie.  Lurie opened up to ESPN’s NFL Countdown in December 2024 as his brother’s non-verbal Autism inspired him to use his platform as a NFL owner to highlight the need for Autism research.

Springtime in Philadelphia comes the Eagles Autism Challenge.  The Eagles Autism Challenge is a 5k run and bike race that is considered to be the largest fundraiser for the Eagles Autism Foundation.  The 2025 edition of the Eagles Autism Challenge will take place on May 17, 2025 and registrations are now open to do the race in Philadelphia or virtually. 

The Philadelphia Eagles became one of the first teams in the NFL to have a sensory room in their stadium.  The sensory room provides games and activities along with the team’s mascot to help neurodivergent fans.  21 other NFL teams have built sensory rooms in their stadiums to help their neurodiverse fans and supporters.
